Day 1
We’ll meet you at Tarbes/Lourdes airport where your holiday will begin. It just over an hours drive to walnut Lodge your base for the week. Once we have shown you to your room, you can relax, take a swim or maybe enjoy a glass of wine. Just before dinner we’ll tell you about Walnut Lodge and then give you an idea of the week ahead before dinner is served.
Day 2
After breakfast, your first session will begin. During this holiday you’ll gain the confidence to “give it a go ”. The mentored sessions will cover a wide range of inspirational subjects. You’ll have two sessions each day, morning and afternoon.
Day 3
Your daily sessions will give you tips and tricks to enable you to use pastels in the best way. Your day will be punctuated with lunch en site, and you’ll have access to a locally based experienced pastel artist.
Day 4
Another day another subject, we will be going offsite to allow you to both see some of the beautiful surrounding countryside and give you the opportunité to draw it. You will end your day with a cocktail by the pool, before a home cooked evening meal complete with local wine.
Day 5
You’ll have the chance to move a little further afield into one on the many vineyards or maybe to draw in a sunflower fields, so evocative of this region of France. No doubt you’ll be looking forward to the evening meal and maybe another dip in the pool.

Day 6
Today is your last day's art and the last day of your holiday. You’ll get a chance to review any difficulties you many have encountered in your weeks drawing. You’ll also have time to finish any works that maybe needed a little more time to complete.
During your a taste of pastel drawing, you'll be sampling home cooked meals that are typical of the region. The wine served during the meal are produced by some of the very same vineyards that you’ll be drawing during your escape.

Sadly this is end of your holiday, as we drive you back to the airport you’ll have a chance to reflect on everything that you’ve experienced during your escape

Where you'll stay
Walnut lodge is a 19th century farmhouse built in the Colombage style with its familiar oak beams and lime mortar. So typical of this region of France. We currently have four renovated bedrooms. We would welcome between 4 and 8 guests during this walking experience, depending on room share preferences. Each room will share a loo and separate shower room with one other bedroom. A nice familiar number of people that you’ll really get to know during your escape.

We have one Pastel Drawking holidays scheduled for Summer 2025. The break lasts for 6 nights.

Cost
Basic cost per room €1246 x payable to Walnut Lodge plus €250 payable locally direct to artist mentor on arrival.
